Yesterday
we found out who will be battling in the Women's final this Saturday.
Former finalist Marion Bartoli eased her way into the final with a
comfortable win over Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens 6-1 6-2 whilst
people's favourite Sabine Lisicki edged her way into the final in a
three setter against number 4 seed Radwanska. In a match that was
full of ups and downs in relations to both players form, Lisicki
proved victorious in the end winning 6-4 2-6 9-7.
Moving
to today's semi finals and its the mens turn. First up is Novak
Djokovic against Juan Martin Del Potro. Del Potro performed above
expectations in his quarter final against Ferrer taking into
account injury worries but he will need to rise his game yet again
against Djokovic who is yet to loose a set. Head to head Djokovic
leads 8-3 however two of their last three meetings has gone Del
Portros way including a match played on grass (Olympics 2012).
Personally I think Djokovic can make the final and against paper he
should but against a newly rejuvenated Del Potro anything could
happen!
Second
up is British star Andy Murray against ace hitter Janowicz. Janowicz
currently leads the tournament with the most aces (30 alone in his
last match). Head to head it's 1 all (Murray in 09, Janowicz in 12).
The odds on favourite and my favourite to win is obviously Andy
Murray. With the crowd to Murrays advantage this should be a
comftuble win for Murray but he will need to be patient as he will be
aced a lot be the talented pol.
Finally
Murray isn't the only Brit in a singles semi final today.Exciting
young British prospect Kyle Edmund is against another fast rising
star Italy's Quinzi. Good luck kyle!!
