In the other semi final second seed Juan Monacos 62 36 64 victory over Spain's Gemeno-traver has given him a semi final showdown against 7th seed Albert Montanes. Montanes beat surprised wild card quarter finalist Dominic Thiem 64 63.

 

The British are doing well at the Vancover Open (Challenger and ITF $100,000). British number 3 Dan Evans produced a excellent first round 36 64 64 win over top seed and world 84 Donsky followed by a second round win over Israel’s Weintraub in another 3 setter. James ward won 46 63 75 in his first round match aha isn't Ireland's james McGee (second round match yet to be played). In the women's section emulating Evans, Joanna Konta had a brilliant 76 64 win over top seed Hsieh Su-Wei. Up next for Konta is fellow Brit qualifier Jade Windley. Sam Murray is also in the second roud following her 61 64 victory in a all British class against Naomi Broady.
