Murray's comback spoiled by Mayer

Andy Murray's campaign towards this months Australian Open suffered a setback at the hands of Germany's Florian Mayer in the second round of the ExxonMobil Open . Murray who is still trying to regain his momentum since having back surgery looked to be fully in control of the match leading it 63 30. On the other hands the former world top 20 Mayer (18, 2011) had other plans by producing some stunning tennis which moved Murray around the court like the wind blowing a leaf, testing his back to the maximum. Mayer gradually came back in the second set to square the match at one set all. Mayer furthermore pushed down on the acceleration pedal in the third with some of the best tennis he has played for a long time. He impressively won 18 consecutive points on serve against a player who is regarded as one of the best returners on the tour which aided him to win 11 out of the last 14 games. It is not a surprise that Murray is a bit rusty still and matches like these are the best indicators to both him and his rivals how match fit the Wimbledon Champion is.
