Li Na set for final showdown against Cibulkova

 Embedded image permalink

Li Na booked herself a place in to the final of the Australian Open following a straight sets win over Eugenie Bouchard. Bouchard in her first Grand Slam Semi was blown away by Na who charged to a dominating 5-0 lead in the first set. Luckily Bouchard was able to come back for a couple games to save a bagel set however it wasn’t enough and Na went on to take it 62. Fresh from a couple games won in the first set. Bouchard seized her opportunity to break Li on her first service game in the second set to lead 2-0. This unfortunately for Bouchard's Fan's was short lived as Li Na broke back immediately to square it all at 2-2. Then at 3-3 Li broke her Canadian rival once more to take a 4-3 lead. This proved to be enough of a lead to earn the 4th seed the set and the match. This will now be Li Na's third final down under out of the past four years on which both occasions she ended up runner up. Will it be third time lucky?

Awaiting Li Na in the final will be the somewhat surprise package of Dominika Cibulkova. The Slovakian had a surprisingly straight forward win over Agnieszka Radwanska. Going in to the match a lot of pundits was expecting Radwanska to win the match, especially considering her winning head to head with cibulkova was 5-1. Cibulkova however proved that head to head figures are irrelevant by dominating the match in her 61 62 thrashing of Radwanska. Cibulkova produced forceful ground-strokes throughout the match and recorded 64% first serves in (winning 65% of them). In addition to this she also produced 21 winners compared to Radwansk'a 12. This will now be her first ever Grand Slam singles final.
