Rafael
Nadal remain the only seeded player left in the draw after his 75
64 quarter final win over Latvia's Earnist Gulbis. It wasn't all
plain sailing for Nadal who had his serve broken in both sets as well
as trailing 0-3 in the second. Quoting the Asscoiated Press Nadal
said:-
"I'm happy to win against Ernests,"
"I'm happy to win against Ernests,"
"If
you are not playing well it's very, very difficult. He's able to hit
winners from every part on the court."
Ok
not much of an in depth review of his match I will admit. In the semi
final he will face little known German Peter Gojowczyk who
reached his first ATP tour semi final. Qualifier Gojowczyk is
currently ranked 162 and has one Challenger title to his name (Ningbo
2012). In an all German encounter he battled to a 63 36 76 win over
Dustin Brown in just under two hours. Whilst in the bottom half Andy
Murray victor Florian Mayer continued
his fine run with a hard 64 67 64 win over Romania's Victor Hănescu.
Up next for Mayer is Gaël Monfils who
notched up an comprehensive 48 minute 62 61 win over Daniel Brands
without losing a game on his serve.
