Seed's Robredo and Granollers goes out in Chile


Robredo, Granollers beaten in Chile 
At the ATP Vina del Mar there was a shock loss for second seed Tommy Robredo. Playing Argentina’s Leonardo Mayer. The world number 16 and 2011 champion lost the 2 hours and 20 minuets match 63 67 46. Robredo had the chance to take the match on four occasions with match points but Mayer fought back every time to prove victorious.

There was further disappointment for Spain after 4th seed Marcel Granollers joined Robredo in going out of the tournament. Granollers had to endure a extremely close two set's tie break's against Colombian Santiago Giraldo. In the first set Granollers did manage to generate two set point's but was unable to convert them against Giraldo who fired 11 aces in the first set. The second set followed a similar pattern to the first with each player matching each other game by game into the tie break. The final scoreline was 76 (9-7) 76 (7-2) in a match lasting 2 hours and 13 minuets.

Other winners on day 2 included defending champion Horacio Zeballos. Zeballos enjoyed a straight forward 63 63 win over Gonzalo Lama to make it to the next round. Jeremy Chardy eased to a 75 60 win over current French Open Boy's champion Christian Garin and 7th seed Guillermo Garcia-Lopez recovered from a set down to beat Paolo Lorenzi 36 75 64.
